FARGO — A national speaker is delivering a powerful message to Fargo students as they approach the end of the school year: one bad decision can change everything.
Motivational speaker Cara Filler visited several Fargo high schools on Tuesday, April 15, to speak with students about making smart choices. Her visit comes just weeks before graduation for Fargo seniors.
Filler shared her personal story — the day before her 18th birthday, her identical twin sister was killed in a high-speed car crash. She said the tragedy stemmed from a single reckless decision.
Her message to students was clear: don’t ignore unsafe behavior among friends.
“We can choose what happens next and peer pressure’s a lot of that,” Filler said. “So maybe you surround yourself at a prom party and people are making choices that you’re not comfortable with. That doesn’t mean you ignore it.”
Filler spoke to students at Fargo South, North, and Davies High Schools on Tuesday. She is scheduled to speak in Dickinson on Wednesday.
