Meet Tammy McGee: The Voice That Saves Lives
On October 26, 2019, my world changed forever. My only son, Conner—lovingly known as “Gweedo” to his friends—was killed in a tragic car crash at just 16 years old. It’s a loss no parent should ever have to endure, yet far too many families across the country know this same heartbreak caused by preventable crashes involving young, inexperienced drivers.
From that day forward, I made a promise: I would use Conner’s story to save lives.
What began as unimaginable grief has grown into a national movement—one built on awareness, action, and accountability. I’ve dedicated my voice, energy, and every opportunity to making sure no other family has to walk the path mine did.
I’m honored to be joining the Drive to Save Lives tour as a national speaker, sharing Conner’s story and offering real tools to help teens, families, and communities make safer decisions. Whether in classrooms, council chambers, or community forums, we’re building a united front to stop destructive driving decisions before they start.
I don’t just raise awareness—I raise standards.
From advancing four key pieces of legislation in Virginia to launching bold billboard campaigns and partnering in The 100 Safest Days of Summer initiative, I’ve dedicated my efforts to exposing the dangers teen drivers face—especially during the high-risk stretch between Memorial Day and Labor Day. We are flipping the narrative of the “100 Deadliest Days of Summer” to the “100 Safest Days of Summer” and I believe those 100 days can be transformed into a season of safety and impact. To learn more or get involved, visit www.100SafestDaysOfSummer.org.
By combining public education, strategic partnerships, and impactful outreach—we’re changing the narrative around teen driver safety, one voice and one choice at a time.
Because this work isn’t just about roads—it’s about lives.
At www.IfYouSeeSomethingSaySomething.org, you can take a step that could save a life. Our completely anonymous reporting system is fast, secure, and confidential. It gives students, families, and community members the ability to report concerns—about unsafe driving, bullying, illegal activity, and more—without fear of judgment or consequences.
We’re here to empower action. Your voice matters.
Let’s drive the change—because every voice, every choice, and every life matters.
