Tyson Dever

Over the past decade, Tyson has built his public speaking business traveling the nation connecting with students on the timely and important topic of distracted driving and traffic safety. Weaved together with his own story, students, teachers and employees engage with Tyson on a different level as he uses his experience to motivate, challenge and educate his audiences. As a former teacher and coach, he has a unique ability to reach people from all walks of life. Living life from a wheelchair, as a result of a distracted driver, has inspired Tyson to make a positive impact in the world of traffic safety, and his personal experience adds an authentic touch to his emotional and powerful presentations.

In March of 2005, while attending Texas State University- San Marcos, Tyson was waiting to turn left on a two-lane road when a 33-ton cement mixer truck ran over his car from behind. This near-death experience left him paralyzed from the waist down, but ignited his incredible passion for life and refusal to be held back by any obstacle. Tyson has helped students, educators and corporate teams move beyond their limitations, and understand the importance of safety and attitude. It’s not a matter of if change will happen – it’s when. His presentation style will have you laughing one minute, and crying the next, but will leave you with a burning desire to be the best version of “you” that you can be.

Tyson travels from outside of Austin, TX where he lives in the hill country, and enjoys hunting and fishing when he is not on stage presenting. He was raised in west Texas where he was an avid baseball and football player for Andrews High School, and played college baseball before transferring to Texas State to earn his degree, after a shoulder injury forced him to stop playing baseball.
