Like all parents, Renee Napier loves to talk about her children. But Renee’s story is different: on May 11,2002, her daughter Meagan, and her friend, Lisa Jo Dickson, were killed by a drunk driver named Eric Smallridge. The girls were only 20 years old.
Since 2004, Renee has powerfully spoken about how one decision, just one moment in time, can lead to irreversible life changes. In her passionate presentation, Renee candidly shares her story of loss and her journey of forgiveness. She’s living proof of the healing power of forgiveness. Since 2010, Eric has joined her on stage, sharing his moving testimony in handcuffs and shackles.
With honesty, courage and compassion, Renee shares how one choice changed countless lives. At the end of the presentation, the audience is invited to look at Lisa’s mangled car themselves – the one in which she and Renee’s daughter died.
Through her stirring presentations and the work as the President and Founder of the Meagan Napier Foundation, Renee has awakened thousands of young people across the country. Her audience leaves inspired to make a difference in the world with a more real understanding of the dangers of drinking and driving than ever before.
Renee travels from the Gulf Coast of Florida.
You spoke at my school and I must say it was very touching. I do make the promise to never drink and drive or be under the influence of any drugs. I really hope that you continue with what you are doing to save the lives of so many young people.
The courage and powerful message of forgiveness you are sharing is such an inspiration to me and the world.
I have no words to describe how you are influencing others to become better humans. Renee is truly my inspiration in many ways as a loving mother and as a human being who is the best at heart.
